Do you believe in magic? Well, perhaps you should. Magic can be a powerful force, you know, altering the world at the whim of some individual who may or may not have the world’s best interests at heart. Better to believe in magic, and then not be surprised when it weaves its spell on you, then to not believe, and be caught unawares. Also, it’s fun to believe in the magical every now and then. The world, for all of its splendors and weirdness, can seem boring if we get too tied up in our day to day lives. A little bit of magic can spice things up.
If one were to believe in magic, however, it would be equally important not to fall under the spell of that old black magic. Its power can be alluring, and before you know it you could find yourself irrevocably under its control.
Thus was the fate of the Black Magic Woman. She had the magic in her. Every little thing she did was magic. There was magic in her eyes. And she was the best around it, so much better than everyone else that everyone knew that you didn’t want to cross her. Black Magic Woman knew black magic after all, which sounds like an evil kind of magic. Who knows what kind of weird things she would get up to if you looked at her the wrong way? She could just put the evil eye on you, and then that would be it.
And the Black Magic Woman was certainly not afraid to use her magic to her own ends, or the ends of anyone else who was willing to give her something worthwhile in exchange. A little magic moment was a small price to pay for something that would elevate her station. For most of her life, the whole magic deal really worked out for her. In the end, though, all the black magic in the world couldn’t save her from taking that final magic carpet ride to the big coven in the sky.
